Yesterday was an Oscars night. And you all know that I have been waiting for this moment for months now. I woke up at 2 am just to watch the live show, so excuse me if I make any mistakes in this posts but I'm really tired. Now, no need for a long introduction, we have a lot of work to cover everything so let's get down to business.
"Film review" (if you are not interested in film just scroll down to the "fashion review): I have to say the night was not full of surprises, however there were some of them as always. Firstly I have to mention the host Seth which was in my opinion amazing, calm, "charming" and hilarious, unlike many other hosts in the past years. First surprise of the night was Christoph Waltz winning as the best supporting actor. Don't get me wrong I love his acting and the movie Django Unchained but nobody expected that. I predicted that the winner is going to be Tommy Lee Jones from Lincoln or Robert De Niro from Silver Linings Playbook. Another shocker was Ang Lee wining as best director and beating Steven Spielberg, who probably doesn't need any introduction. Moving on to the biggest surprise of the night which was the best picture - the winner was Argo. When Michelle Obama announced the winner I literally sat there with my mouth wide open, looking as shocked as ever. I have to say that I absolutely adore Argo and is this years by far my favourite movie but I just did not expect that. I was hoping the Academy would recognise all the work they've put into the movie but after Ben Affleck's "fail" at the nominations this movie was the last I expected to win. I was tied between Lincoln and Life of Pi, which were definitely the favourites to win the award. So to sum up I absolutely loved this years Oscars, from Jennifer Lawrence (best leading actress), Anne Hathaway (best supporting actress), Daniel Day Lewis (best leading actor), Quentin Tarantino (best original screenplay) and many more. But the most exciting thing for me was the performance of Les Miserables cast all together. I nearly had a heart attack. Loved it.
Fashion review: now it's time for all the fashionistas. In general they all disappointed me. No one really stood out. My predictions sort of came true but let's start at the beginning. My best dressed were: Charlize Theron in Dior, Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab and Amy Adams in Oscar De La Renta; the "not so sure about it": Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani, Jennifer Garner in Gucci - love the colour though, Anna Hathaway in Prada and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior. And as for Adele stands I expected so much more (she was the same dress as last years Grammys gown- sort of). The biggest trend on the red carpet were definitely glitter and sequins and everything in between. As it goes for my predictions: Jennifer Lawrence wore the exact same dress I predicted for Anna Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston wore the dress I also predicted for Anne. Talking about Anne - she wore a simple Prada dress in a pastel, soft colour as I sort of predicted. But have to say she disappointed all of us. She could so much better than this. Jessica Chastain went in a totally different direction as I thought and went with a body hugging dress with sequins from Armani. She still looked amazing, but something was just missing for me, but I don't know what exactly. Charlize wore this simple but gorgeous gown - she was beautiful but nothing special. I also expected so much more from Jennifer Lawrence. I mean she looked gorgeous as always but c'mon this are the Oscars. You have to go all out. And they just simply didn't do that. I also have to mention Jennifer Garner's dress - she chose the most beautiful colour but the gown simply did not work at all. Too busy for my taste.
So this is it for today. Hope you liked this post. Let me know what did you think by commenting below. Talk to you soon.
Till then XOXO
