I have nothing to wear.
Yes, we've all been there. Waking up on a Monday morning, scrambling to the closet, staring at it for hours and just can't come up with an outfit, even though we have so many clothes.
Maybe you forgot to do the laundry that weekend, maybe you got sick of wearing the same clothes over and over again. Either way this feeling is no fun at all.
And if you want to know the truth, that used to happen to me all the time. But then I have eventually came up with some ideas that really helped me save time and still do an outfit I really liked. So I wanted to share some of the ideas with you and give you some tips you may find useful.
1. Look for an inspiration.
Check some popular sites like Tumblr, Polyvore, Lookbook, other blogs ... Whatever you prefer. Sometimes it really helps looking at outfits from other people, just to get an inspiration from them and to see your clothes in a new light. Don't get me wrong I don't mean you should copy their looks, but just try to draw inspiration from them.
2. Invest in basics.
Trust me, this tip will take you far. When you look at bloggers who dress very well, you will see that they use basics and combine them in an interesting way. Just use a simple black jacket, basic white top and some jeans, put a big chunky necklace on and you are ready to go. Simple but very efficient.
3. Choose one piece that you really like, and plan the outfit around it.
Simplicity is the key to go. Chose one item that you really like and want to wear that day and plan the rest according to it. Neon bag, chunky necklace, floral pants, statement blazer ... Whatever you like. Simplicity is the key to go.
4. Organize your closet.
I can't emphasise this tip enough. This doesn't mean that you have a messy closet, not at all, but just not organised well. Colour organise; put your favourite items in front, so that they're visible all the time, and put the items you don't wear anymore in the background. Trust me, if you follow this tip, you'll see your clothes and closet in a completely different way.
5. Remember your favourite outfits.
Sometimes you're really proud of an outfit that you put together. I know how you feel :) So take advantage of that. Take a photo of your favourite outfit on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or just your phone and stick it on the door of your closet. And when you will feel that you have nothing to wear, just look at the photos and you're good to go.
Talk to you soon.
