Why Routine Life is so Boring

I hate routines. There, I've said it.

I've always been a person who likes to plan everything in advance. School or blog schedule, trips or holidays, meals or training schedule. You name it, I've done it. But recently I really started to get sick of the same old daily routine. Routines are so boring, aren't they? Yes, I know they make our lives much easier, but they also make them rather monotonous. Every day looks pretty much the same, nothing excites or challenges me anymore and consequently I can start slipping into a rather depressed mood. So why do we stick to the same things every single day? (small) Changes are exactly what we need, so why not try something new and mix things up a bit once in a while?
If you are like me, who is, without realising it, slowly slipping into a boring daily routine, then definitely stick around. Here are some ways I like to bring change into my daily routine, which you may want to try out for yourself.

YOGA

I recently started practicing yoga, which honestly changed everything. I take 30 minutes out of my day to completely switch off - I put my phone on airplane mode and follow a chosen YouTube video. There are so many available and you can even take up a 30-day yoga challenge, so there's no excuse for you not to do the same.
Yoga is all about focusing on your breathing, meditating, listening to your body and focusing on how it moves. I've been doing it since the beginning of January and it has completely changed my daily routine. It has become a part of my day that I'm completely alone, calm and relaxed, which also translates into other things - I can work or study better and just in general feel more energised and relaxed.

"CLEAN EATING" AND EXPERIENCING NEW FOOD

Yes, I know I just had a really rambly post about clean eating and everything related to it, but let me explain. Our bodies positively react to healthy food, which of course changes up our mood and consequently everything we do that particular day. So my tip is to try to include more healthy meal options into your meal schedule. Not saying that you have to take up "clean eating" or stick to a strict meal routine, but let say eating humus instead of chips. Just a simple switch up and your body will be really thankful.
Another thing that is very common is of course sticking to the same foods all the time. And I'm especially guilty of that. Trying out new dishes can be really fun, so try to borrow or purchase cookbooks, flip through them or simply find new recipes online. You may just find your new favourite!

RANDOM COFFEE DATES / MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Scroll through your contacts and invite someone on a coffee date you haven't seen in a while and catch up. Or try meeting new people. There're so many options nowadays, from apps, social media to school or work place. Simply strike up a conversation and you may just find a new friend you get to hang out with.

CHANGE UP YOUR DAILY MAKEUP ROUTINE

This one is for all of you girls out there, who are just like me and always stick to the same beauty products. Yes, I know they are the products that work for you, but there are so many options available out there that it really would be a shame not trying something new every once in a while. What I like to do is change up my eye-look or lipstick shade - it's the easiest way to change things up a bit. Or even go to the drugstore, swatch different products and test them out. You never know, you may just find a new favourite, or as I like to call them, holy grail products.

SMALL, DAILY CHANGES

Would it be a new hair colour or haircut, a new clothing item or just a new favourite song you get to jam to, such small things or daily changes can make an impact on your daily routine.

SPENDING A PART OF YOUR DAY DOING SOMETHING NEW

Just a few random things I've done recently that broke off the boring daily routine: sunbathing during a warm winter day, drinking tea and catching up on all the recent events; wine tasting with friends on a Friday evening; going on an unplanned boat trip and doing "touristy" stuff in your hometown. All really random things I would never think of doing before, but without a doubt made some great memories along the way.

So these are just some of my tips to help you break off a boring daily routine. Let me know, if you've tried anything out and how it has worked out for you!
