Intervju z Marigone Gashi / Interview with Marigone Gashi

SLO

Marigone, pozdravljena!

V svetu želim videti čim več lepih stvari, nasmejanih in zadovoljnih ljudi. Zato sem se odločila za to pot ustvarjanja. Svoje velike želje gradim v svojem malem svetu.

Marigone, najlepša hvala za tvoje odgovore!

ENG

Marigone Gashi is a young and perspective slovenian fashion designer. She designs for a woman, who likes to wear comfortable and functional pieces, but is also very daring and likes to stand out from the crowd at the same time. I had the privilege to work with Marigone for the October's edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Ljubljana. She was the one, who designed the outstanding jacket I wore on the first day of MBFWLJ (click here).

Hi Marigone. First of all I would like to ask you, if you can quickly introduce yourself.
I love to discover new places, traditions, experiences, explore nature, feelings, relationships, as well as materials, crazy combinations, technology and designs.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My day always starts with a good cup of coffee, followed by a few minutes of meditation – that's when the day properly starts for me. Every day is closely connected to creating new things. There are days, when my mind is constantly bombarded with different ideas. It's in moments like these, I wish that a day had more than 24 hours. On the flip side, there are also those days, when my head is completely empty and spent without any creativity.

How would you describe a woman you design for?
I like to design comfortable and functional pieces, which are daring and different at the same time. I could say that I like to design for a woman, who likes to be comfortable, but who is also not afraid to stand out from the crowd.

As a blogger myself, I really appreciate your choice for collaborating with us. Why did you decide for this step?
I really love to collaborate with bloggers, because that's how you get a chance to meet new people, who promote your designs. I think that bloggers and designers have a lot in common, so that's why I believe we should collaborate more often.

What is your opinion on the phenomenon of fashion blogs as a fashion student yourself?
In general I really love to read blogs, because you get new ideas, inspirations, interesting information, etc. However, you have to bear in mind that not all bloggers are good bloggers. I think you should have some knowledge about the things you write about and that's the main thing that differentiates good bloggers from the rest.

What do you do besides fashion design?
Days without designing are very rare because I'm constantly thinking about upgrading and changing different ideas - how to make designs even better. There are of course those days that I like to spend just for me, by myself: I like to practise yoga, learn something new, sign up for a new course. I think that if you continue to grow as a person, the ideas will grew and evolve with you as well.

What are your plans for the future?

Currently I am working on my final project for my course in fashion design, which I will present on LJFW (Ljubljana Fashion Week) in March. It's a very colourful collection, created for a woman on-the-go, so I kept the designs rather simple. The special feature about the collection is the patterns (laser cut), which I created myself. I could say that I've completely fallen in love with new technology and pattern design.
In autumn I will continue with my studies and enrol in a masters course. I just wish to include as much creativity as possible into my world. I want to see happy people and beautiful things in the world. That's why I decided to study in the field of arts. As I like to say: I like to fulfil my big dreams in my own little world.

Marigone, thank you very much for your answers.

Trend Alert: Embroidery

The perfect trend for the spring and summertime.

I'm all about the embroidery trend this spring. Even though it has been present in the street style for quite some time now, it's not going away any time soon. Embroidery is having a huge comeback this spring and if you're still not a fan of it, get ready, because you'll be seeing it everywhere. From embroidered dresses, jackets to shirts like in my case, embroidery is the winning trend of the new season.
When you combine the simplicity of a white shirt with embroidery, you get a special combination of femininity and sophistication. Classic white shirt is the ultimate staple piece of clothing every woman should own in their closet. It's the easiest piece to incorporate into an outfit - you can easily dress it up (with a skirt) or down (with a casual pair of jeans). I decided to pair this gorgeous embroidered shirt with frayed hem jeans, both from Zara, added Bershka black strappy heels and finished everything off with a red MKS necklace.
Perfect casual outfit for the springtime.

What do you think of this trend? Like it or not? Let me know in the comments below.

The Trench Coat

Trench Coat is in my opinion the best transitional piece for the springtime. It's so versatile, chic and lightweight - all at the same time - that you can wear it with pretty much any outfit you would like. I absolutely adore this oversized trench coat from Mango in khaki green. I especially like this colour twist, because I didn't want to settle on a traditional beige one - on the expected colour of a trench coat + I also think this colour suits my hair colour and complexion so much better. Because I wanted the main focus of the look to remain on the trench coat, I paired it with a simple black spaghetti strap top from Pimkie and classic black trousers from Zara. I finished everything off with a MKS red and white choker to add a pop of colour, my favourite ankle boots from Zara, classic rose gold Daniel Wellington watch and a suede clutch with gold detailing, also from Mango. Recently I've been obsessed with bringing some colour back to the outfit with my chokers. You can completely change up the entire outfit with such a simple change that is the colour of a choker. So this has been my first real spring outfit and I can't wait to post more in the future. Spring, bring it on!

What is your key transitional piece for this spring? Let me know in the comments below.

Item of the Month / Embellished Top

It's time for a second post of the Item of the Month section. February's pick for my favourite monthly item is this gorgeous embellished top I got from Zara for literally a third of the original price - so again another great sale item. I can say that I'm pretty lucky when it comes to sales, you've just got to be quick enough. I wear pretty generic sizes, so timing is the key with me.
So when I saw this top in Zara last year I was completely swooned by it. The detailing on this top is exquisite. It's quite a delicate piece, because the beads are not that securely attached, but if you are rather careful with it that won't present a problem at all. I was of course drawn in by the gorgeous colours and sheerness of the fabric. It's a beautiful, feminine piece that you can easily dress up or down. I decided to go with a more casual outfit for today's edition, to show you how versatile it actually is.
I paired the top with my trusted girlfriend jeans from Pimkie, a brown coat from Zara and finished the look off with a simple bag and Stan Smith trainers from Adidas. You can of course dress it up, with a skirt or wide-leg trousers and heels. It's a without a doubt the most stunning, gorgeous and sophisticated top I own in my collection and that is why it is my February's item of the month.
